Dr. William J. LiphamDr. William J. Lipham, a board-certified fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Minnesota Eye Consultants. His expertise encompasses surgery of the eyelids, tear drainage system and orbit. In addition to managing complex medical and surgical cases, he also provides a broad array of facial rejuvenation services, including cosmetic eyelid surgery, laser skin resurfacing, small-incision endoscopic forehead lifts, as well as Botox and Dermal filler injections for wrinkle reduction.

Dr. Lipham grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where his undergraduate studies in biology and zoology led him to pursue a career in medicine. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After his first year of medical school training, Dr. Lipham was selected to participate in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health (HHMI-NIH) Research Scholars Program at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. During his two-year NIH fellowship, he published three papers and received honors for his investigational work, including a merit scholarship from the HHMI for demonstrating "outstanding potential as a future leader in academic medicine."

After graduation from medical school, Dr. Lipham completed a transitional internship at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu. During his internship, he traveled to Vietnam with the Aloha Medical Mission where he worked with a group of American eye surgeons who taught local doctors how to surgically reconstruct eyelids and faces of patients who had sustained severe trauma. This experience sparked an interest in pursuing additional training as an ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgeon.

Dr. Lipham then completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami, Florida. He then pursued an additional two-year American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at Duke University Eye Center in Durham, NC.

Dr. Lipham currently serves as secretary of the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology and was a past president of the Minneapolis Ophthalmology Society. He is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and the American Medical Association. Dr. Lipham has authored a book entitled Cosmetic and Clinical Applications of Botox and Dermal Filler Agents, which is in its second edition. He is a frequent lecturer at scientific meetings and has published numerous articles and chapters in the field of ophthalmology.
